Part 2 of Offshore Drilling with Link

Glenview students, homework is to:

  • Revise 2 writing assignments (short story and independent writing task). If you missed class last Thursday, please take thirty minutes to compose a response to the following: Is it better for students to study science and mathmatics or history and literarture?
  • Write a five paragraph persusive essay on Offshore drilling using the position papers I distributed in class. You can select the reasoning, but you must write from the position that I assigned to you. Work on paraphrasing the arguments made in the handout rather than just repeating them.
  • Study for a vocabulary quiz on Tuesday that covers the lessons on Wikileaks and Offhshore Drilling. You can the vocabulary words and their definitions in the lesson links for Offshore Drilling.

Offshore Drilling Lesson Materials

Here is part 1 of the lesson on Offshore Drilling. This version of the lesson contains class definitions for vocabulary words and both the reading and the lecture for the integrative task.

Chicago students, if you attended class, you are responsible for the following for homework:
  • Read Passage 1 and answer the questions.
  • Read Passage 3 and create a basic outline of the information in the passage.
  • Compose ten vocabulary sentences using any ten new words from the lesson.
  • Start thinking about the pros and cons of Offshore Drilling for an essay on this topic.

Chicago students, if you missed this class, you are responsible for the following:

  • Read Passages 1 and 2 and answer the questions.
  • Read Passage 3 and create a basic outline of the information in the passage.
  • Compose ten vocabulary sentences using any ten new words from the lesson.

    Read the reading and lecture for the integrative task and give yourself twenty minutes to compose an integrative writing response comparing the reading and the lecture.
